WordPress is more of a CMS system than just a blogging platform. As I always said, wordpress can do anything. With so many plugins and themes out there, creating a niche specific site with wordpress is just several clicks away.
Come on, most if not all bloggers build websites for money, and passion. So today I will show you a new way to make money using wordpress. The title of this post speaks for itself.
ViralNova Concept
In case you haven’t heard of viralnova, it’s one of the most popular buzz on the internet. It’s estimated to earn $400,000 in just one month. And it was using wordpress. I mean “was” because it’s now built on a custom platform (The old design is here if in case you miss it). But this doesn’t change the fact that you can still create a similar site with the same design, on wordpress.
Why it got so popular and profitable? Because its owner gets things right. If you want to know more how it’s banking, read this article.

Then follow me on the process of creating your own viralnova site.
How to get started
- A good domain: I know “good” is not good enough to explain what kind of domains you should choose. There are actually some criteria: short, pronounceable and easy to remember. You are not just selecting a domain name, you are choosing your brand. Cost: around 10 US$.
- A reliable host: At the beginning, you can choose a shared hosting plan. I recommend Hostgator because it never let me down. This blog is also hosted on hostgator. Once your site starts getting large traffic, you can move your website to a better server. Cost: starting from $3.96/month (3 years) or $7.16/month (monthly)
- A website platform: Yes, it’s wordpress! Cost: 0
- A ViralNova theme: you can download it free from clonetemplates, or you can hire a developer for custom coding. Cost: 0
Overall, you can start your own viralnova site with a starting budget of only $17.16.
This is just a roughly cost estimation by the way. All wordpress sites must come with certain plugins and themes, if you are totally new to wordpress, it’s better to choose a service to help you configure your site. clonetemplates provide such service.
Im not sure if it is my problem or theme problem, but in any site that ive activate viralnova free theme it shouws very bad to my sites.Look this picture http://prntscr.com/52dx3o for more.So is your theme problem or i dont know to configure well it ?

Hi, only the posts set as featured on the top right of edit screen will display as a big picture.
I installed this theme on a new site and no matter what I try doing it refuses to include a thumbnail photo and information when trying to share on Facebook. All it shows is the sites domain name (although it will open the individual page). I switched two other sites over to this theme temporarily to see if the problem existed there as well and it didn’t. On those sites it shared a photo as well as a title and description.
I removed ALL content, uninstalled WP and started over. Currently there are NO changes to the theme and only a single post to show the problem I am having when trying to share on FB. ALL plugins are also disabled except the two that the theme requires.

I appreciate any help you can suggest.
Thank you,
Gene
Hey Gene,
I’ll look into it later. Thanks for your report.
Thanks, Leo
I hate to go any further if the posts can’t be shared with a photo and description. Nobody will bother just clicking on a link not knowing what it is about. It’s working fine on my test site that has.numerous activated plugins.
Leo, I’ve got a Facebook and Twitter account all ready to go for this URL. Just need the issue with the template resolved before I can proceed. Appreciate anything that you can come up with.
I didn’t hear back from you so I deleted everything again and did another fresh WordPress install. I used a different theme and discovered that it had the same Facebook sharing issue (no description or thumbnail photo). I’ve spent DAYS trying to resolve the problem and finally found a posting showing what someone else discovered was causing the same issue. I found that I had a similar DNS setup, made the necessary correction, and now everything is working fine.
Hello Gene,
I am glad you have figured it out by yourself. Do you mind sharing your solution here or send to my email newbiesup[@]gmail.com?
Using the Facebook debugger tool at developers.facebook.com/tools/debug I kept getting “Error Parsing URL: no data was scraped”. I tried about four different Open Graphics type plugins to no avail. Finally I stumbled across a post on Stackoverflow where an individual had realized the problem was with his DNS A/AAAA record. That made me recall that when I switched the DNS info where the URL is registered to the one where the site is hosted, for some reason it automatically added a long URL in the AAAA field. I left it that way thinking the system knew what it was doing. But after reading how someone else had issues due to the AAAA record, I went back and deleted the long URL that was showing and only used the A record for the host. Apparently FB is not able to crawl the site reliably with the AAAA record inserted. It took several hours for the change to start showing up and adding thumbnails and descriptions as it propogated through the internet system but seems to be working at 100% now.
Thank you Gene. Really appreciate this.
